Kevin was born in the Lake Arrowhead area of Southern California. He grew up around real estate from a very young age - his father was Chief Financial Officer and project manager for Boise Cascade Land Development. Kevin graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Economics & Finance.  Following college, Kevin began his real estate career with Marcus & Millichap in Palo Alto, CA where he focused on the sale of commercial real estate and apartment / investment properties. Kevin has extensive Silicon Valley business and leadership experience - having been part of the leadership teams of more than 9 start ups.

Kevin Cottrell first obtained his real estate license in 1986.  Kevin began his career in residential real estate with Keller Williams in Austin TX in 2003.  He was previously associated with a highly successful real estate team with Keller Williams in Austin, TX which closed in excess of 500 transactions per year.

Kevin Cottrell has launched the Austin based podcast - Austin Real Estate Today.  This weekly online radio show and podcast focused on the Austin housing market and current events is co-hosted with Perry Henderson of Prudential Texas Realty.

Kevin founded and co-owned Kelsey Cottrell Realty in 2008.  Kelsey Cottrell Realty was eventually grown to be the #1 independent brokerage and ultimately combined with Keller Williams newest Market Center which opened in 2011.

Kevin moved to St Louis MO in 2006 from Austin to join his wife Stephanie, a Team Leader with Keller Williams St Louis. Kevin launched a team, The Cottrell Realty Group, which rapidly grew in prominence in the St Louis marketplace. The St Louis Business Journal ranked Kevin #9 in 2008 on the list of the highest-selling residential real estate agents in St Louis.  Continuing on this success, Kevin's team was ranked #3 in St. Louis in 2009 based on closed transaction volume.  Kevin and his wife relocated to Austin in January 2011 from St Louis.

Kevin Hosted the #1 Real Estate Podcast in St Louis - St Louis Real Estate Today

Kevin was the host of a highly successful real estate podcast in St Louis - the St Louis Real Estate Today Radio Show ran for more than 100 episodes.
